Fortunately, Tennessee Titans EDGE Harold Landry has emerged as one of the best defensive linemen in the AFC. Unfortunately, he is a free agent this offseason. It's no secret that Tennessee will make a sizable attempt to keep him around, but he'll be a popular target for any team looking for help on the DL.
The Titans know that, and ESPN does too, apparently. They have him ranked as their 12th-ranked overall free agent. He is the second-highest ranked EDGE defender. Landry's only behind Von Miller at #8. Miller, at 33, won't come at nearly the cost that Landry will purely because of the length of the contract that each will get. That being said, Miller was dominant over the back half of the season. He will certainly get paid, too. Expect shorter deals for him and other veterans like Chandler Jones and Jadeveon Clowney.
His Impact
Regardless, Landry will most likely get the biggest free-agent contract at his position during this offseason. He will only be 26 years old entering next season. Plus, Landry is playing at the highest level of his career. The Titans defender had twelve sacks alongside fourteen tackles for loss this past season. Both of those numbers are career highs. He's one of the most well-rounded young players at his position.
Multiple players on the Titans have discussed how badly they want Landry back as well.
Landry is a big reason that the Titans defense took such a big step this past season. Their defensive line is arguably the top defensive unit in the NFL with him alongside Jeffery Simmons, Bud Dupree, and multiple others.
