The Tennessee Vols are battling a Pac-12 program for a key five-star recruit from Alabama.
2024 five-star edge rusher Jordan Ross, 6-foot-4/230 lbs from Birmingham, AL, is ranked in 247Sports' composite rankings as the No. 4 edge rusher in the nation and the No. 4 player in the state of Alabama.
According to Rivals.com national recruiting director Adam Gorney, Tennessee and Oregon are the two teams best situated to land a commitment from Ross.
Gorney acknowledged that Florida could become a factor after Ross took a visit to Gainesville in June, but he still thinks the Vols are the "team to watch" in this recruiting battle.

If Tennessee is going to overtake Alabama and Georgia in the SEC, then they have to start winning recruiting battles for elite defensive recruits.
I don't know if it's fair to call Ross a "must-get player" for Tennessee, but he's pretty dang close to it. Anytime the Vols are in the mix for a five-star player and they're not going up against Alabama or Georgia, it's essentially a battle they can't afford to lose.
