The Tennessee Vols have a special talent on their pitching staff. In another elite group, RHP Chase Dollander is garnering a lot of attention for next year's MLB Draft.

It's no coincidence, either. Scouts and media members have been all over Dollander since last year when he dominated the SEC.

Dollander won SEC Pitcher of the Year as well as made first-team honors on just about every All-American list imaginable. He is poised to continue his success this year for another impressive Vols' baseball team.

MLB scout, Joe Doyle, broke down Dollander's special traits and abilities.

Doyle mentions that there are some scouts that believe Dollander is on the level of Gerrit Cole and Stephen Strasburg. He is quite the MLB prospect, clearly.

One of his sources even mentioned Jacob DeGrom as a potential comparison for the Vols' star.

Surprisingly, that isn't the first time that a smart baseball mind mentioned DeGrom in regards to Dollander.

As for Doyle, he had some more gleaming words about the Vols' righty. He acknowledged the dominance that the ace for Tennessee has shown in his time with them so far, and he is very excited for his future.

Tennessee righthander Chase Dollander might represent the best college arm available in any draft since Strasburg. Armed with a fastball approaching triple digits, arguably the best slider in the class, and now the weaponization of a curveball and changeup, Dollander has big league stuff right now. And there’s more coming.

Keep in mind that Doyle is no normal scout, either. He is one of the most well-respected minds in scouting around the entire MLB.

He has Dollander as his top overall prospect for the 2023 MLB Draft. That would be yet another first-round selection coming from the Vols' program.

Dollander clearly has some big shoes to fill in terms of professional comparisons. There is no reason to believe that he cannot be exceptional again for the Vols this season, though.
