The Tennessee Vols could be on the verge of landing a big-time commitment.
247Sports director of football recruiting Steve Wiltfong predicted on Thursday that 2023 four-star defensive back Sylvester Smith will commit to Tennessee.
Smith, 5-foot-11/195 lbs from Munford, AL, is ranked in 247Sports' composite rankings as the No. 11 safety in the nation and the No. 13 overall player in the state of Alabama.
Here's what Rivals.com national recruiting analyst Ryan Wright had to say about Smith earlier this month.
From Rivals.com:
Entering Rivals’ latest position rankings as the third-best safety in his class,Sylvester Smith is a missile in the secondary for Alabama’s Munford High School. A two-way player for the Lions, Smith shines on defense as a sideline-to-sideline player.
Smith also has offers from Auburn, Florida, Georgia, LSU, and Miami, among several others.
The talented defensive back is visiting Tennessee this weekend, along with five-star Vols commit Nico Iamaleava and numerous other top recruits.
It wouldn't be a surprise if Smith committed shortly after his visit to UT.
