Tennessee Vols quarterback Hendon Hooker is a popular dark horse Heisman Trophy candidate entering the 2022 season.

Hooker was fantastic last season in his first year with the Vols. The Greensboro, NC native passed for 2,945 yards, 31 touchdowns, and only three interceptions while playing in a brand new offense.

Logic would suggest that Hooker should be even better in 2022 than he was in 2021 simply due to being more familiar with the offense and the players around him.

That's why it's not a surprise that Hooker, who transferred to Tennessee from Virginia Tech, is gaining steam as a potential Heisman candidate.

On Thursday, Hooker was asked how he feels about being a potential Heisman candidate and he gave a great response.

"Honestly right now, my thoughts are on finishing spring ball and winning ball games," said Hooker. "I feel like the accolades will come later."

That's a great answer from Hooker that shows his maturity and his commitment to winning football games at Tennessee. That's exactly what you'd hope to hear from a leader.

If Hooker focuses on winning, the rest will take care of itself.
