The Tennessee Vols' top 2026 recruiting target is now the No. 1 overall recruit in the nation according to 247Sports.

2026 five-star quarterback Faizon Brandon, a Greensboro, NC native, was elevated to the No. 1 recruit in the nation by 247Sports on Wednesday

Brandon, 6-foot-4/175 lbs, told Rivals.com earlier this spring that Tennessee has been showing a lot of love during the recruiting process.

“I would say definitely Tennessee has been showing a lot of love and everything,” said Brandon in March. “They've been doing really well. It's the communication that they have with me and how they've built a really good relationship with me and it's pretty easy to talk to them about everything. I say that's a big part.”

Late last week, On3's Steve Wiltfong called Tennessee the "early favorite" in the battle for Brandon.

It helps that former Vols quarterback Hendon Hooker is from the same hometown as Brandon.

"I plan to commit after next season, but if it feels right, I'll make my decision during my junior season," said Brandon to 247Sports of his commitment plans. "I would be open to it."

Brandon has been described as "the ultimate competitor", the type of player that can't stand to lose anything — from drills to practice reps. That's almost certainly one of the traits that Vols head coach Josh Heupel, who himself has been described as the ultimate competitor, loves about the Greensboro native.
