The Tennessee Titans found a hidden gem in the fourth round of the 2022 NFL Draft.
Tennessee selected Michigan running back Hassan Haskins on day three of the draft.
Haskins, who will inevitably be referred to as the heir to Derrick Henry, is a big running back (6-foot-2/228 lbs) who had a breakout season in 2021 at Michigan.
The former Wolverine had a decent amount of success as a true freshman in 2019, rushing for 622 yards. In 2020, Haskins played in six games (shortened season due to COVID-19) and rushed for 375 yards and six touchdowns.
This past season, though, Haskins had a season that Michigan fans won't soon forget.
The former three-star recruit rushed for 1,327 yards and an incredible 20 touchdowns. It was the second-highest graded (PFF) season by a Big 10 running back since 2014 (current Colts running back Jonathan Taylor had the highest-graded season).
Yes, that means that Tennessee's new running back had a higher graded season than former Penn State running back Saquon Barkley ever had in college.
Now, I'm not saying Haskins is the next Barkley (the Titans hope he can stay healthier than Barkley has in the NFL), but this shows what kind of talent Tennessee is getting in the young running back.
The Titans may have found a long-term answer at running back (for the post-Derrick Henry era, which is quickly approaching) in the fourth round. I think nearly any fan can appreciate this pick.
