When one door closes another one opens. At least, that’s the case for former Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker, Derrek Tuszka.

The Tennessee Titans claimed Tuszka through waivers on Friday, which fills the vacant roster spot the team was left with after designating Harold Landry III to injured reserve earlier in the day.

Tuszka was drafted by the Denver Broncos in the seventh round of the 2020 NFL Draft. After spending his rookie year in Denver playing mostly on special teams, Tuszka landed with the Steelers last season.

He played 15 games with Pittsburgh in 2021, and recorded 18 tackles, two sacks, and a forced fumble.

It's likely the Titans had Tuszka on their radar after he recorded three tackles and a sack in last year's meeting between the two AFC foes.

Tuszka stands at six-foot-four weighing 251 pounds, and will serve as a depth piece to the Titans’ pass rush while also contributing on special teams.

Tuszka played his college ball at North Dakota State where he tallied 133 tackles, 42 TFLs, 29.5 sacks, and three forced fumbles.
