The Tennessee Titans got surprisingly good play out of their secondary last season. This year, the position group undoubtedly looks deeper for the defense. With budding CB Kristian Fulton and rookie CB Roger McCreary at the forefront at cornerback, the Titans have a fun and interesting core at the position. Safeties Kevin Byard and Amani Hooker are dynamite behind them, too. What about CB Caleb Farley?

Farley was a first-round selection for the Titans last season, but he didn't see the field too much on defense. He got mostly special teams reps as he eased back into playing shape coming off injury. Now, he will look to play a bigger role in the Tennessee defense. Development from him would provide the secondary with massive upside and depth, considering his physical talent when healthy.

Earlier on Tuesday at voluntary OTAs Titans DB coach Anthony Midget provided an update on Farley.

Midget says that Farley has been very involved and fully engaged. He mentions that the CB has been there every day, improving and working hard. That's important when considering the injury issues that have plagued Farley over the last few years. It sounds like he is about as healthy as he has been in a long time.

According to Midget, the details of playing cornerback in the NFL are something that they have been working with Farley quite a bit throughout these workouts. Farley has responded well and is doing everything that he is asked, based on where he is physically right now.

For the Titans, an addition of a healthy Caleb Farley to the CB room alleviates some of the pressure that is currently on Kristian Fulton. Additionally, it would give fellow young defensive back Elijah Molden a more fluid role. Molden would be able to line up more often in the slot or as a third safety. Those are spots where he excels.

Plus, Roger McCreary wouldn't have to jump into an immediate, high-intensity role right off the bat in the NFL. McCreary would still most likely get meaningful CB reps, but they could work him in more as he progresses.

The Titans need Farley to become a valuable piece in their young secondary, and it sounds like he could be on track to be that this year and beyond.
