DeAndre Hopkins reportedly agreed to a two-year $26 million contract with the Tennessee Titans on Sunday, and not even 24 hours later he already has a win over Ex-Titan A.J. Brown.
Player ratings for Madden 24 are starting to drop and Hopkins cracked the list of the top 10 highest rated wide receivers. A 93 overall rating puts Hopkins as the seventh best wide receiver in the NFL, while Brown is the ninth best and rated a 91.
The only receivers rated better than Hopkins, are Justin Jefferson (99), Tyreek Hill (98), Davante Adams (97), Stefon Diggs (96), Cooper Kupp (96), and Ja’Marr Chase (94).
This rating should give Titans fans an idea of the caliber of player Tennessee is getting in Hopkins. He may not have the young upside of Brown, but Hopkins is still an elite receiver that completely transforms an offense. He is such a crafty route-runner with arguably the most reliable hands in football. Hopkins is going to be everything the Titans were hoping Robert Woods would be in 2022 and then some.
We have seen this Titans offense have a ton of success in the past when Ryan Tannehill has weapons to throw to. Avoiding a one-dimensional, run-first scheme is essential and when Tennessee has been multifaceted and kept opposing defenses guessing, Tannehill knows how to put up points.
He did that with A.J. Brown for three seasons, and now he’s going to do it with DeAndre Hopkins. Are they different style of players? Absolutely, but when you add a difference maker of this caliber to the weakest position group on your roster, good things happen.
NFL players take a lot of pride in their Madden ratings. They take bad ratings personally and want to be the best at their position. What better way for DeAndre Hopkins to kick off his Tennessee Titans career than edging out A.J. Brown on this list?
