When targeting one of the biggest names in NFL free agency, some bumps on the road are to be expected. The latest report around DeAndre Hopkins is a perfect example when seen from the point of view of the Tennessee Titans.

Only a few days after visiting the Titans, Hopkins is expected to visit the New England Patriots on Wednesday and Thursday. However, many had quickly assumed the Patriots were a longshot because of the man coordinating their offense: Bill O'Brien.

After all, O'Brien was the Houston Texans' head coach when Hopkins was controversially traded away in 2019 to the Arizona Cardinals. Surely, some bad blood had to exist between the two parties, right? According to the latest report from ESPN's Diana Russini, that isn't the case.

Russini reported "there's no animosity at all" between Hopkins and O'Brien.

Although it's still too early to tell where Hopkins will end up, the report makes the Titans' hopes of signing him a little less clear. If Hopkins is truly okay with reuniting with O'Brien, it could spell trouble.

The Patriots have $15 million in cap space compared to the Titans' $8 million, per Over the Cap. Not to mention, not having a three-way quarterback competition for the 2023 NFL season and having one of the best head coaches of all time could certainly help New England's case.

This doesn't mean it's over for the Titans.

Ultimately, judging by the teams we know D-Hop is visiting, it would appear it will come down to the best offer on the table. If the Titans are able to put the most attractive deal together, it should be enough to land the five-time All-Pro wide receiver.
