Nashville Mayor John Cooper is asking the Tennessee Titans to postpone their game against the Houston Texans on Saturday because of issues with blackouts in the area.

The Tennessee Valley Authority has been requiring Nashville Electric Services to conduct planned intermittent blackouts rolling across the Nashville Metropolitan Area because of the stress put on the power grid due to the extreme cold weather. With those temperatures and blackouts continuing into Saturday morning, Mayor Cooper announced that all non-essential businesses should reduce power usage and that he has asked the Titans to postpone Saturday's game, as well.

The current forecast projects kickoff temperatures in Nashville to be right around 20 degrees Fahrenheit. Should the game kick off on time (12pm), that would make this the coldest game ever played in Nissan Stadium. The previous low was 23 degrees, set on December 31, 2017.

It currently seems highly unlikely that this game would not begin on time despite the Mayor's request, so we may be in store for a bit of history.

Stay safe, Titans fans. Bundle up and Titan up.
