Tennessee Titans quarterback Ryan Tannehill has dealt with a lot of noise this offseason.

First, it was Tannehill's decision to skip offseason workouts in April, then it was his comments about mentoring rookie quarterback Malik Willis.

"I don't think it's my job to mentor him (Willis)," said Tannehill in May.

Those comments led to a weeks-long debate about mentorship that even got brought up by Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes during "The Match" earlier this month.

After all the debate about Tannehill's comments, and whether or not he was being selfish with his comments, he was actually praised this week by Titans offensive coordinator Todd Downing for his leadership this offseason.

Downing specifically pointed out that Tannehill has done a nice job of helping the "new guys".

All of that offseason drama about Tannehill and not one bit of it mattered. He's taking part in team activities, he's continued to be a great leader, and he's even helping the "new guys".

Tannehill has received a lot of criticism in general over the last several months, mostly due to his untimely interception in the divisional round of the playoffs against the Cincinnati Bengals, but it's important to remember that Tennessee was going nowhere fast in 2019 before he took over for Marcus Mariota as the Titans' starting quarterback.

Without Tannehill, the Titans might be wandering in the wilderness right now.
