Tennessee Titans quarterback Ryan Tannehill may not be the flashiest or most gifted quarterback in the NFL right now, but the 34-year old veteran certainly knows how to win.
Since Tannehill took over as the Titans' starting quarterback in Week 7 of 2019, only two NFL quarterbacks have led their teams to more wins, Patrick Mahomes and Aaron Rodgers.
Many are quick to bash Tannehill for his playoff performances, but in doing so, he often doesn't get the credit he deserves for being one of the most stable and consistent quarterbacks the league has to offer.
A 36-15 record with an 86-31 TD-INT ratio is nothing to scoff at, and 2022 is a perfect example of his ability to do more with less.
Tennessee shipped off A.J. Brown to the Eagles in the offseason, and yet Tannehill still finds a way to get production out of his WR core and tight ends. He's decisive with the football, and in Thursday night's win, showcased some pinpoint accuracy in big third down scenarios.
Yes, Tennessee has the running game of Derrick Henry to rely on. No, that's not considered "less" by any means, but the pass protection has been subpar all season, and just two weeks ago, the entire football world was making a joke out of the Titans' WR core.
We saw what the Titans' passing offense looked like with an inexperienced Malik Willis at the helm. It wasn't great. Tannehill being back under center covers up a lot of the flaws within this offense.
Titans wide receivers had zero catches in a Week 9 overtime loss in Kansas City. Thursday night in Green Bay, Treylon Burks, Robert Woods, and Nick Westbrook-Ikhine combined for 15 catches and 208 yards.
Tenessee also had five explosive plays (25+ yards) through the air.
This is not to say Ryan Tannehill is the perfect NFL quarterback. He has his flaws and makes some mistakes. That includes the fourth quarter interception with Tennessee in scoring range on Thursday night.
But all things considered, he's rather under appreciated.
Following Thursday's stellar performance, Hall of Fame tight end Tony Gonzalez called it "one of the best games he's ever seen [Tannehill] play" during Amazon Prime's postgame coverage, and it's difficult to find an argument for that.
The Tannehill that showed up in Green Bay is a quarterback that can lead the Titans on a playoff run. Postseason consistency has alluded Tannehill thus far, but maybe he's finally turned the corner. All Tennessee needs him to do is lead, make good decisions, and take care of the ball. The defense, coaching, and Henry can do the rest.
Tennessee's offense has some real potential with the way 17 is playing right now.
