The Tennessee Titans added depth to its defensive backfield on Wednesday, signing safety Andrew Adams off the Pittsburgh Steelers’ practice squad.

Adams will be sent straight to the Titans’ active 53-man roster, per Jordan Schultz.

The Titans signing Adams to the active roster likely spells bad news for S Lonnie Johnson, who picked up an injury in Week 2’s loss to the buffalo Bills.

Adams began his career with the New York Giants after going undrafted out of UCONN in 2016. He started 17 games in two seasons with New York prior to signing with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Adams spent four seasons in Tampa Bay (2018-2021), largely factoring in as a rotational piece for the Super Bowl LV champs.

Through six years in the NFL, Adams has accumulated 190 tackles, seven interceptions, two forced fumbles, and six tackles for loss.

His most notable performance came in 2018 when he picked off Panthers QB Cam Newton three times in the same game.

If the Titans learned one thing from Monday night’s catastrophe it’s that a team can never have too many defensive backs.

With Derek Carr and a high-flying Raiders offense coming to town in Week 3, Adams must make like a sponge and soak up every bit of information in order to execute DC Shane Bowen’s scheme.
