Former Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Urban Meyer broke his brief silence this weekend by giving an exclusive interview to NFL.com.

Meyer was fired in Jacksonville this week after a wild series of missteps that included trying to get Tim Tebow back into the NFL and kicking one of his players.

After Meyer's final game as the Jaguars' head coach — a 20-0 loss to the Tennessee Titans — a video of the post-game handshake between Meyer and Titans head coach Mike Vrabel went viral.

Vrabel was on Meyer's staff at Ohio State for two seasons (2012 and 2013).

During Meyer's interview with NFL.com, he addressed the brief handshake with Vrabel.

"Someone asked me about Vrabel's [handshake], we're really close," Meyer said. "That had nothing to do with him. That's probably one of my issues why I've thought some of the things I said: I can't take losing. I try to accept it, it just eats away at my soul. And I believe our players deserve better."

This isn't just Meyer saying that he and Vrabel are close for an interview. Vrabel alluded to the two being close when he was introduced as the Titans' head coach.

"I got to coach under Urban Meyer and learn so much…I'm not Urban, but I'm going to take a lot from him," said Vrabel during his introductory press conference in early 2018.

By the way, for anyone wondering, Meyer and Vrabel shared a proper handshake earlier this season — and there's photo evidence.

As for Meyer's next move? The former Florida/Ohio State head coach told NFL.com that his next move is "to be determined".

I wouldn't be surprised if he tries to rehab his image and land a college job during the next coaching carousel.
