Tennessee Vols head coach Josh Heupel became a bit of a villain on Saturday.
Heupel and the Vols got back in the win column on Saturday thanks to their 66-24 win against the Missouri Tigers.
Seven of Tennessee's points came with less than a minute to go with the game already decided.
Numerous college football fans on social media called out Heupel for having "no class" since he didn't take a knee at the end of the game.
Where do we even start?
I think the first thing we need to point out is that Tennessee is competing for a spot in the College Football Playoff and they need to win their final few games of the season in blowout fashion to make an impression on the committee — especially after losing to Georgia last week and scoring only 13 points.
Another thing to consider is that Drinkwitz took some shots at Tennessee last summer over the NCAA investigation surrounding UT and former Vols head coach Jeremy Pruitt.
Missouri head coach Eliah Drinkwitz, to his credit, didn't have an issue with the Vols continuing to try to score late in the game.
What Drinkwitz said is spot on. If you don't want a team to run the score up, then stop them — especially in SEC play.
I wouldn't be surprised if Drinkwitz uses this game as motivation for his team next season, but he did the right thing by not complaining publicly. The last thing an SEC head coach wants to do is whine about another team scoring too many points. That would be disastrous for Mizzou when it comes to recruiting.
