Rivals.com national recruiting analyst Sam Spiegelman made an encouraging prediction this week for 2026 Tennessee Vols five-star quarterback commit Faizon Brandon.
Spiegelman predicted that Brandon will end the 2026 recruiting cycle as the top overall player in the nation.
Brandon, 6-foot-4/195 lbs from Greensboro, NC, has been committed to Tennessee since August.
From Rivals.com: Faizon Brandon was the Rivals MVP of the Navy All-American Bowl Combine in San Antonio last week. The five-star passer is coming off a stellar junior campaign that culminated in a state championship and North Carolina Gatorade Player of the Year honors. Brandon was surgical in the combine setting and has an elite physical skill set and fantastic field vision.
The No. 3 overall prospect in the Rivals250 behind five-star offensive tackle Jackson Cantwell and five-star quarterback Ryder Lyons, the future Vol has a compelling case as the No. 1 quarterback in the 2026 class and No. 1 player overall.
For now, 247Sports is the only one of the major recruiting services has Brandon rated as the No. 1 overall player in the 2026 recruiting class.
On3 has Brandon rated at No. 28 overall, ESPN has him at No. 10 overall, and Rivals.com has the Tennessee commit at No. 3 overall.
Rivals.com and 247Sports both have Brandon rated as the No. 1 quarterback in the 2026 recruiting class.
The fact that Brandon is competing in camps and All-American bowls gives him a legitimate chance to finish as the consensus No. 1 overall player in the nation (not competing in those camps is why 2025 Vols signee George MacIntyre lost his five-star ranking).
Regardless of Brandon ends up being ranked, there's no doubt that he has the potential to be a Heisman Trophy-caliber talent for the Volunteers.
