The Tennessee Vols are among the top schools for an elite 2025 defensive back from North Carolina.

Four-star safety Jordan Young announced his top eight schools on Monday and he included Tennessee, along with Alabama, Clemson, Florida State, Michigan, North Carolina, NC State, and Texas A&M.

Young, 6-foot/184 lbs from Monroe, NC, is rated by 247Sports as the No. 2 safety in the nation and the No. 2 player in the state of North Carolina. He's also rated as the No. 29 overall player in the 2025 recruiting class (which means he could end up being a five-star recruit by the time he signs).

The talented defensive back is set to take an official visit to Tennessee on June 21.

“Tennessee has great fans that rock the stadium and a lot of history at their program," said Young to On3 of his interest in the Volunteers.

Young isn't expected to announce his commitment until October, so there's still lot of time left in this recruiting battle — though we should have a better idea of who the serious contenders for Young are after he takes some official visits this summer.

Tennessee currently has nine players committed to its 2025 recruiting class, including a couple of defensive backs in three-star safety Sidney Walton, three-star cornerback Tyler Redmond, and three-star cornerback Dylan Lewis.
