Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes are looking to steal a four-star commit from the Tennessee Vols.
2026 four-star tight end Carson Sneed, a Vols commit since early August, tweeted on Thursday that he received an offer from Colorado.
Sneed, 6-foot-5/235 lbs from Nashville, TN, is rated in 247Sports' composite rankings as the No. 11 tight end in the nation and the No. 7 player in the state of Tennessee.
Carson Sneed scouting report via 247Sports: Throwback in-line tight end prospect that has actually received some valuable snaps at offensive tackle while also doubling as a front-seven defender. Size has not been third-party verified, but is believed to be over 6-foot-5 with the room to eventually carry 260 pounds or more. Rather effective at this stage as an attached blocker and should only get better at sealing off run lanes with improved technique and further physical development. Hasn’t proven to be a real vertical threat in the passing game, but can slip out of the backfield and find soft spots in zone coverage, especially down in the red zone. Should be viewed as a potential asset in an offense that’s heavy on the two and three tight end sets. Could thrive in a sniffer role.
This isn't the first time that Colorado and Tennessee have crossed paths on the recruiting trail. The Buffaloes were able to land five-star offensive lineman Jordan Seaton and four-star wide receiver Kam Mikell over the Volunteers during the 2024 recruiting cycle.
Colorado also made a run at four-star defensive back Boo Carter, but he ended up signing with Tennessee despite the push from Sanders.
Coach Prime and the Buffaloes aren't the only program showing interest in Sneed.
Sneed recently visited Miami and he could visit Florida State soon.
Michigan is also continuing to show interest in Sneed. According to 247Sports, the Wolverines recently visited Sneed in Nashville.
It sounds like Tennessee is going to have a battle on its hands to keep Sneed committed.
