The former Vol spent the first six years of his career with the Steelers after Pittsburgh selected him in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft.
Sutton signed a three year deal with the Lions worth $33 million after the 2022 season, but he was released after just one season with Detroit due to some offseason legal issues.
In late March, Sutton turned himself in to authorities in Tampa a month after a warrant was issued for his arrest on charges of domestic battery by strangulation.
In mid April, Sutton entered a pretrial diversion program to resolve the misdemeanor charge.
From NBC Sports: Former Lions cornerback Cameron Sutton has reached a legal resolution on the battery charge that led to his release from the team last month. Greg Auman of Fox Sports reports that court records in Tampa show that Sutton has entered a pretrial diversion program to resolve the misdemeanor charge. Sutton will have to undergo a mental health evaluation and undergo possible treatment as part of the program. Sutton’s agreement also calls for a probationary period and bars him from possessing firearms. Sutton was released a day after police announced they had issued a warrant for his arrest in a domestic violence case. The move voided his $10.5 million guaranteed salary for 2024.
Sutton totaled a career high 65 tackles for the Lions last season. He also recorded an interception in 2023, the ninth of his NFL career.
