Former Tennessee Vols cornerback Gabe Jeudy-Lally was named by The Athletic as one of the most surprising cuts on final NFL roster cutdown day on Tuesday.
Jeudy-Lally, who spent one season at Tennessee after transferring from BYU (Jeudy-Lally also played at Vanderbilt), was waived by the Tennessee Titans on Tuesday. The former Vol signed with Titans as an undrafted free agent shortly after the 2024 NFL Draft.
From The Athletic: But the fact that neither of those corners (Jeudy-Lally or Tre Avery) stuck with the team is quite a surprise. Jeudy-Lally, an undrafted free agent who stood out early in camp, seemed like a solid bet as CB5. Avery was a bit more of a question but also has experience and has played solid football for the Titans. With four corners, the Titans must have a clear plan for the waiver wire.
Jeudy-Lally should get a practice squad opportunity, which could lead to a path to a spot on an active roster (though probably not to start the season).
The Titans also released former Vols running back Jabari Small on Tuesday. Small, who was also signed as an undrafted free agent after the 2024 NFL Draft, should also receive a practice squad opportunity.
