Tennessee Vols redshirt freshman quarterback Nico Iamaleava impressed plenty of folks with the way that he played in UT's season-opening 69-3 win against the Chattanooga Mocs.

Iamaleava passed for 314 yards and three touchdowns in just one half of action against Chattanooga. The 314 passing yards set a record for most passing yards in a half by a Tennessee quarterback (breaking a record previously set by Tyler Bray).

Former Tennessee wide receiver Donté Stallworth came away from the Chattanooga game extremely excited about Iamaleava and his potential in the SEC.

Stallworth tweeted that he's "giddy" about Iamaleava, noting that he was impressed with the way that the young quarterback attacked the seams and the middle of the field.

Stallworth played for some talented Vols teams from 1999 to 2001. And he played with a great quarterback from California named Casey Clausen before embarking on an NFL career that lasted for a decade (where Stallworth played a couple of seasons alongside Tom Brady). Suffice it to say, he knows what good quarterback play looks like.

There's plenty of reason for excitement on Rocky Top these days. And Iamaleava is a big reason why that's the case.
