Another former Tennessee Vols standout is getting another shot in the NFL. Running back/Wide receiver Jalen Hurd is signing a deal with the New England Patriots. He's a former third-round pick of the San Francisco 49ers.
During his time at Tennessee, he was a fan favorite on offense. Many folks wanted him to play an even bigger role on the team during his stint in Knoxville. That being said, Hurd finished his Vols career with 2,638 rushing yards, 20 rushing touchdowns, 67 receptions, 492 receiving yards, and six receiving touchdowns.
His final collegiate season was spent at Baylor. He dealt with multiple injuries during his time with the 49ers when he entered the league. Hurd has always possessed physical traits, but putting it all together has been the hurdle.
For Vols fans, they'll have another player to root for in the pros. Keep an eye on him before the season to see if he can grab a roster spot with the Patriots.
