FOXBOROUGH, Mass – The Tennessee Volunteers have battled all season, and their valiant efforts earned them a spot in the College Football Playoffs.

It was a big moment for the current members of the team, but also for past and present players along with the entire fanbase. And that certainly includes New England Patriots quarterback Joe Milton III.

After the big announcement was made on Sunday, A to Z Sports spoke with Milton about this moment for Tennessee.

"It's a blessing for those guy, but also for the program itself," Milton said. "It's going to be great to see those guys out there and have an opportunity. I'm happy for those guys."

There are still a few players that he has remained in contact with since leaving, and he gave them the best advice.

"Pretty much everybody that was there when I was there. Pretty much talk to those guys, let them know just to keep going, stay excited, but also just stay grounded," He explained. "And just keep having fun. That's the main thing."

That idea of having fun is what the team truly should be focusing on. And that's because they have the toughest path in the playoffs. First, they will have to face off against Ohio State, and if they get past the Buckeyes, next up is No. 1 Oregon in the quarterfinals.

But, let's look at what happened just a few weeks ago. Michigan, who was not expected to even have a chance against Ohio State, came out and won against one of the top teams in all of College Football. There were no expectations for them, so they just had fun and competed, which let to the win.

The Vols should certainly use that as motivation heading into this big game.

So, does Milton think his former team has what it takes?

"Absolutely. Just putting the pieces together. I know Coach Heupel is probably preaching right now that every day you got to get better. And it's all about the 1 percent. So get better 1 percent every day."
