A couple of former Tennessee Vols teammates were reunited in the NFL on Tuesday.

The Carolina Panthers reportedly signed former Vols wide receiver Velus Jones Jr off the Jacksonville Jaguars' practice squad according to NFL insider Jordan Schultz.

Carolina signed Jones to their active roster.

Jones, who is a dynamic kick returner, will join former Vols offensive lineman Cade Mays in Charlotte. Mays and Jones were teammates at Tennessee in 2020 and 2021.

This will be Jones' third team in his brief NFL career. The former Tennessee standout was selected by the Chicago Bears in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft. Jones was released by Chicago earlier this season after a failed transition to running back.

Jones, who didn't play in any games with the Jaguars, has 12 receptions for 135 yards and a touchdown in his NFL career. He also has 165 rushing yards and a touchdown.

The Panthers will take on the Dallas Cowboys in Week 15.
