New York Giants head coach Brian Daboll made an encouraging comment about former Tennessee Vols wide receiver Jalin Hyatt on Thursday.

Hyatt, a third round pick by the Giants in the 2023 NFL Draft, had a solid rookie season last year — even though he didn't put up gaudy numbers. The former Vol caught 23 passes for 373 yards as a rookie in 2023.

Daboll said on Thursday that he's seen tremendous improvement from Hyatt, noting that he's pleased with the young wide receiver's progress this offseason.

The third year Giants head coach specifically noted that Hyatt has improved when it comes to knowing what to do out of the huddle and pre-snap.

Hyatt might not have put up huge numbers last season — there were plenty of reasons why that was the case (quarterback injuries, poor offensive line play, etc) — but he put a lot of good things on tape.

Former LSU wide receiver Malik Nabers, the Giants' first round draft pick earlier this spring, has received most of the headlines this offseason, stealing some attention away from Hyatt.

The former Vol, though, appears poised for a breakout NFL season. It's easy to forget that Hyatt slipped in the draft due to some of the silly narratives about Tennessee's offense. Hyatt is a first round talent who had some huge games on some of the biggest stages while in college — including against Nabers and LSU in 2022 (Hyatt caught 4 passes for 63 yards and two touchdowns in the Vols' win in Baton Rouge).

Hyatt is known for his relentless work ethic and unwavering confidence. A huge sophomore season for the South Carolina native wouldn't be even the least bit shocking.
