Former Tennessee Vols quarterback Hendon Hooker won't be taking the field as a player at Neyland anymore now that he's in the NFL, but he could still have an impact on what happens on Shields-Watkins field in the future.

Hooker is reportedly helping the Vols recruit a 2026 quarterback that's from the same hometown as the former Tennessee quarterback.

Faizon Brandon, 6-foot-4/175 lbs from Greensboro, NC, attends a high school (Grimsley) that's rivals with Hooker's former high school (Dudley), but the two still share a connection since they're both from the Triad area in central North Carolina.

Brandon recently spoke to 247Sports about his recruitment and he pointed out that Hooker has been talking Tennessee up.

“(Hendon Hooker) said keep working, never stop working," said Brandon to 247Sports. "And he’s said a lot of good things to the (Tennessee) coaches about me. … His dad has told me that they treat him well (at Tennessee), and he said the move from Virginia Tech to there really felt like home, like, a much better home there.”

It's obviously still very early in Brandon's recruitment — he hasn't even been rated yet by the major recruiting services. But it sounds like the Vols will be very much in the mix for the talented signal caller. Of course, Tennessee's interest in Brandon moving forward will be dependent on how their recruiting board looks a year from now.
