The Tennessee Vols’ slow climb up the AP Top poll will end this week.

Tennessee started the season ranked No. 24 in the AP Top 25 poll.

The Volunteers climbed all the way to No. 11 this past week before suffering a 37-20 loss to the Alabama Crimson Tide on Saturday night in Tuscaloosa.

The Vols are expected to drop several spots when the new AP Top 25 poll is released on Sunday afternoon.

Sports Illustrated has Tennessee falling to No. 18. CBS Sports only has the Vols falling to No. 15.

“The Volunteers boast another quality loss resume that voters will have to consider after a 37-20 loss at Alabama,” wrote CBS Sports’ Chip Patterson. “There are no wins against teams that are close to being in the top 25, but it’s also a team that only has lost against Georgia, by three, and the Tide, on the road.”

We’ll see how far the Vols actually fall when the new poll is released later on Sunday. There’s not much of an argument to be made, however, for the Volunteers to remain in the top 15.
