How far the Tennessee Vols are predicted to climb in the AP Top 25 rankings after win over the Kentucky Wildcats
The Tennessee Vols didn’t have any issues with the Kentucky Wildcats on Saturday night in Lexington.
The Tennessee Vols bounced back from last weekend’s tough loss to the Alabama Crimson Tide with a dominant win over the Kentucky Wildcats in Lexington.
Tennessee cruised to a 56-34 win against Kentucky — the most points the Vols have scored in an SEC game this season.
The Vols are now 6-2 with matchups remaining against Oklahoma, New Mexico State, Florida, and Vanderbilt.
How far Tennessee is predicted to climb in the AP Top 25 rankings after win over Kentucky
Tennessee entered this weekend’s action ranked No. 17 in the AP Top 25 poll.
The Vols should climb a few spots in this week’s rankings, thanks to losses by No. 13 Oklahoma and No. 15 Missouri.
CBS Sports, in fact, has Tennessee climbing to No. 14 in this week’s AP Top Poll. They have the Vols passing Virginia, Oklahoma, and Missouri.
“The Vols offense offered quite the response from last week’s loss at Alabama, rolling up 504 yards of offense and 56 points against a Kentucky team that had previously fared well against some of the more talented teams in the SEC,” wrote CBS Sports’ Chip Patterson. “Rankings shakeups elsewhere will lead to a slight bump up, but no major moves in the rankings for a Tennessee team that is now 6-2 with a thin margin for error the rest of the way.”
Sports Illustrated, meanwhile, has Tennessee jumping just two spots to No. 15.
There’s not a lot of room for movement this week, so I would bet on one of these two predictions being correct.
