Former Tennessee Vols quarterback Josh Dobbs threw an absolute dime for a touchdown on Friday night in the San Francisco 49ers' final preseason game.

Dobbs, who signed with the 49ers earlier this offseason, is batting Brandon Allen for the No. 2 quarterback job in San Francisco (49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan isn't ready to declare a winner just yet). And on Friday night, Dobbs made a great case for why he should win the job with an incredible touchdown throw to wide receiver Jacob Cowing.

The former Vol threaded the needled between two Las Vegas Raiders defenders to deliver a perfect strike to Cowing.

Here's another angle of the incredible pass from Dobbs.

Dobbs completed 8-of-10 passes for 72 yards and a touchdown against the Raiders.

After the game, Dobbs told reporters that he's keeping the football to give to his mom for her birthday (after he accidentally threw the football into the stands after scoring the previous week).

"So my mom's birthday is on the 31st and last week, when I scored, I got really excited and threw the ball in the air and forgot to grab it," said Dobbs after the 49ers' 24-24 tie against the Raiders. "I try to get her a touchdown ball if I score around her birthday. I went to dinner last night and I was like alright if I score, I'll make sure I won't forget the ball. So, I had to grab it for her."

Dobbs didn't have a choice on Friday night — he had to score for his mom. And the former Vol came through.
