The Tennessee Vols have made a loud statement this weekend.

Tennessee baseball is really, really good. And it's not because they play in a home run friendly stadium in Knoxville.

Vols baseball translates to any field in the country. And they've proven that this weekend by winning the first two games of a three-game series against the Ole Miss Rebels.

On Friday night, the Volunteers throttled the Rebels, winning 12-1 at Swayze Field in Oxford.

After the loss on Friday, Ole Miss pitcher Dylan DeLucia admitted that Ole Miss took Tennessee "lightly". Then he guaranteed a win against the Vols on Saturday.

The Rebels, however, weren't able to deliver on DeLucia's guarantee. Tennessee easily won again on Saturday, outscoring Ole Miss 10-3.

Ole Miss catcher Hayden Dunhurst sounded totally defeated after the loss on Saturday.

"They're establishing fastball and they're throwing off-speed stuff for a strike," said Dunhurst (via The Clarion-Ledger). "I can't remember the last time they just walked one of our guys on four-straight balls and we've done that a ton. We've got to come out ready to play and compete and we can't back down from them."

That quickly went from Ole Miss thinking the Vols were beneath them to "we can't back down from them".

The Rebels clearly didn't enter the weekend believing in Tennessee baseball. But I'd say they feel a lot different now than they did a couple of years ago.

UT signaled to the entire country this weekend that their run to start the season isn't a fluke. This team is for real and they're a legitimate threat to leave Omaha later this summer with a championship.
