CBS Sports national college football analyst Josh Pate had a strong take on Tennessee Vols redshirt freshman quarterback Nico Iamaleava.
And I think Tennessee fans are going to agree with him.
Pate said this week, in no uncertain terms, that he thinks Iamaleava will be a star in college football and will end up being a household name.
"I think Nico Iamaleava is going to be a star in this sport," said Pate. "And I don't think you'll have to wait a couple of years. He will be that this year. That dude will end up being a household name in college football. And you don't play a long time in college football, so you have to be really good, really fast."
"He's got it," added Pate.
Iamaleava will enter the 2024 season with huge expectations thanks to his rating as the top overall player in the 2023 recruiting class.
But based on everything we've heard — from various reports to comments made behind the scenes — it sounds like Iamaleava is well-equipped to handle the big expectations. The California native is humble, yet confident. He's ultra competitive, yet steady.
