The early signing period is set to get underway on Wednesday (December 4) and Tennessee Vols fans are anxiously awaiting to see if five-star offensive lineman David Sanders Jr sticks with his commitment to UT.

Sanders, the No. 1 offensive lineman in the nation, has been committed to Tennessee since August. The Charlotte, NC native, however, took a surprise visit to Ohio State last month for the Buckeyes' win against the Indiana Hoosiers.

That visit understandably caused some concern on Rocky Top.

There were rumblings that Sanders might return to Ohio State last weekend for the Michigan game. Fortunately for the Vols, that visit didn't happen.

According to On3's Chad Simmons, it appears that Tennessee has "weathered the storm" in the battle for Sanders.

"Ohio State put a scare in Tennessee when they got the Vols five-star offensive tackle commit David Sanders, Jr. to visit campus for the Indiana game," wrote Simmons. "Tennessee looks to have weathered the storm and are feeling as confident as they can in Knoxville. The Buckeyes won’t give up until the papers are signed."

247Sports' Tom Loy offered a similar update on Tuesday.

"There was some buzz about a potential flip to the Buckeyes. However, our best sources believe [Sanders] will stick with the Volunteers barring a last-second change of heart," noted Loy

Nothing is ever certain in recruiting until a player puts pen to paper on signing day. So while Tennessee is feeling good about Sanders, Vols fans won't be able to fully exhale until he officially signs with UT.

We'll see if that signature happens on Wednesday when the early signing period starts.
