The son of a former Tennessee Vols great is getting a new opportunity in the NFL due to the devastating knee injury that Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill suffered on Monday Night Football in a win against the New York Jets.
Hill dislocated his knee and tore multiple ligaments, ending his season.
The eight-time Pro Bowler underwent surgery on Tuesday.
Miami Dolphins sign the son of former Tennessee Vols wide receiver
According to NFL Network reporter Tom Pelissero, the Dolphins are expected to sign Cedrick Wilson Jr off the New Orleans Saints’ practice squad.
Wilson, who was selected by the Dallas Cowboys in the sixth round of the 2018 NFL Draft, previously played for the Dolphins in 2022 and 2023.
Wilson, a former Boise State standout, is the son of former Vols wide receiver Cedrick Wilson Sr.
The elder Wilson played at Tennessee from 1997 to 2000 (he caught 159 passes for 2,137 yards and 24 touchdowns for the Vols). Wilson Sr, who was a member of Tennessee’s 1998 national championship-winning squad, spent seven seasons in the NFL and won a Super Bowl with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
