Tennessee Vols forward Brandon Huntley-Hatfield has entered the NCAA transfer portal according to a report from On3's Matt Zenitz.
Huntley-Hatfield is a former five-star recruit who signed with the Vols during the 2021 recruiting cycle.
The Clarksville, TN native only averaged 3.9 points per game as a true freshman, but he saw his role increase over the final nine games of the season (especially in the SEC Tournament). The feeling was that Huntley-Hatfield would have a bigger role next season with John Fulkerson finally exhausting his eligibility.
While Huntley-Hatfield hitting the transfer portal is surprising, it sounds like this is a situation where both parties were ready to move on. It doesn't appear that Tennessee pushed hard to keep Huntley-Hatfield from entering the portal.
The Vols are also losing Kennedy Chandler to the NBA. Victor Bailey, Handje Tamba, and Quentin Diboundje are all transferring.
