The Tennessee Vols, along with nearly every other program in the nation, are hoping to land 2027 five-star running back David Gabriel Georges.

Gabriel Georges, 6-foot/205 lbs from Quebec, Canada (he goes to high school at The Baylor School in Chattanooga), is rated by 247Sports as the No. 2 running back in the nation and the No. 15 overall player in the nation.

VolQuest’s Austin Price joined WNML on Wednesday and he pointed out that Gabriel Georges is Tennessee’s top priority in the 2027 recruiting class.

“The number one priority for any position for 2027 is David Gabriel Georges at Baylor,” said Price. “So he’s the top option, and the second option, and the third option. They’re all in on DGG.”

Where do the Tennessee Vols stand in the battle for David Gabriel Georges?

Gabriel Georges was at Tennessee last weekend for the Vols’ 34-31 win over the Arkansas Razorbacks.

Price said on Wednesday that Tennessee “knocked it out of the park” with Gabriel Georges during that visit.

“They knocked it out of the park,” said Price when asked about Gabriel Georges’ visit. “His parents had a blast. They were down from Canada. And Tennessee is, I think, the team to beat there. I know some people feel like Ohio State is deep in that one, and they are — I’m not going to discount their chances. But I still think Tennessee has done a fantastic job of recruiting David.

“There are people at Baylor that are big Tennessee people that are in his ear. He’s got people that are on his current team, like (five-star offensive lineman) Gabriel Osenda and (three-star cornerback) Jamyan Theodore, that are committed to Tennessee. All that stuff matters, and relationships matter to David as he goes through the process. So it certainly feels like Tennessee has done a fantastic job with him. And they’ll need to continue to do so, because it seems like Ohio State and Georgia are not going to quit. They’ll have to keep keep the pedal down. But right now, I do feel like Tennessee’s got a bunch of momentum with David.”

Ohio State could become a major factor for 2027 five-star running back Kemon Spell — a five-star running back from Pennsylvania who recently decommitted from Penn State — which could help the Vols in their pursuit of Garbriel Georges.

But there’s still a long way to go in this recruiting battle, so plenty could change in the coming months.

Tennessee, however, has done all they can to this point to convince Gabriel Georges to don the orange and white in college.
