Tennessee Vols quarterback Joe Milton will have a former Vol as his head coach in the NFL.

Milton was selected in the sixth round (No. 193 overall) of the 2024 NFL Draft on Saturday by the New England Patriots.

Earlier this offseason, the Patriots promoted Jerod Mayo to head coach, replacing Bill Belichick. Mayo previously served as New England's linebackers coach.

Mayo was a linebacker for Tennessee from 2004 to 2007 before getting selected by the Patriots in the first round of the 2008 NFL Draft.

The Patriots selected North Carolina quarterback Drake Maye in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft. That means that Milton will be battling for a backup job with the Patriots this summer.

New England currently has five quarterbacks on the roster.
