One of the Tennessee Vols' biggest 2025 recruiting targets is officially back on the market.
On Tuesday evening, 2025 five-star edge rusher Isaiah Gibson decommitted from the USC Trojans.
Gibson, 6-foot-4/245 lbs from Warner Robbins, GA, had been committed to USC since late March.
The talented five-star recruit is rated by 247Sports as the No. 1 edge rusher in the nation and the No. 17 overall player in the 2025 recruiting class.
There had been rumblings/rumors in recent weeks that Gibson's decommitment from USC was inevitable, so it wasn't a surprise to see that he essentially reopened his recruitment on Tuesday evening.
Tennessee hosted Gibson this past weekend for an official visit that reportedly went extremely well.
The Georgia Bulldogs, however, are viewed as the favorites to land Gibson.
In late May, Gibson mentioned "location" as an important factor in his final decision.
“If I were to change, it would be location first, I would say,” said Gibson to On3. “And just overall culture and environment of the players and the coaches that are there. So that would probably be the difference-maker. But as I said before, I don’t plan on decommitting or anything like that.”
(Knoxville is about five hours away from Warner Robbins while Athens is about two hours away.)
Gibson is taking official visits to Ohio State and Oklahoma this week. A decision could follow later in the summer.
Tennessee is very much in the mix in this recruiting battle, but it's going to be tough to beat out Georgia for Gibson.
