2023 four-star running back Treyaun Webb revealed his top five schools on Friday and the Tennessee Vols made the cut.
Baylor, Florida, Penn State, and South Carolina also made Webb's top five.
(Arkansas was previously one of the teams that Webb had among his top schools.)
Webb, 6-foot-1/205 lbs from Jacksonville, FL (Trinity Christian Academy), is ranked in 247Sports' composite rankings as the No. 5 running back in the country and the No. 23 player in the state of Florida. He's also ranked as the No. 116 overall player in the 2023 recruiting class.
It could be tough for the Vols to win this battle. Jacksonville is Gator country and it's not easy to pull recruits out of that area.
Rivals.com also reported earlier this month that Webb was a big fan of his visit to Gainesville.
"The word is that Webb liked “everything” about his trip to Gainesville and that the Gators could now have the edge," wrote Rivals.com national recruiting director Adam Gorney.
Recruiting is fluid so we'll see how this plays out. But for now, it looks like Webb is destined for Florida.
However, we can't rule out the Vols now that Tennessee has five-star quarterback Nico Iamaleava in the commit column. Iamaleava could give the Vols a nice recruiting boost over the next several months.
