The Tennessee Vols are one of the teams to beat for 2021 four-star linebacker Junior Colson, according to Rivals recruiting analyst Rob Cassidy.
Colson, 6-foot-2/228 lbs from Brentwood, TN, is rated in 247Sports' composite rankings as the No. 2 player in the state of Tennessee and the No. 10 outside linebacker in the nation.
Cassidy has Michigan as the current favorites to land Colson, with the Vols a close second.
According to Cassidy, Colson has been "high" on Michigan for a while. Cassidy also noted that both of Colson's parents are from Michigan and are fans of the Wolverines.
As for the Vols, Cassidy says the "allure of staying home" could help Tennessee "stay in the hunt" for the elite linebacker.
Colson said last month that Michigan was his leader, so the Vols definitely have some ground to make up in the coming months.
The Tennessee native, however, also showed some love for Jeremy Pruitt and UT last month, telling Rivals "I love coach Pruitt as a coach. He’s been doing it a long time. He knows what he is doing, and you can tell it works."
Colson is planning to commit before his senior season, which means Tennessee needs to quickly close the gap if they want to land the four-star recruit.
