For the second straight offseason, the Tennessee Vols have lost a player — specifically a pitcher — to the Wake Forest Demon Deacons.
A year ago, RHP Chase Burns transferred from Tennessee to Wake Forest for his junior season (Burns is expected to be a top five selection in this month's 2024 MLB Draft).
On Wednesday, Vols freshman LHP Matthew Dallas announced that he's transferring to Tennessee, leaving Knoxville for Winston-Salem.
Dallas, who is from Memphis, pitched in 15 games for Tennessee in 2024, recording a 4.76 ERA.
The former Vol didn't make the trip to Omaha with Tennessee last month as he was left off the travel roster.
All three of Wake Forest's weekend rotation spots are up for grabs in 2025 with Burns, LHP Josh Hartle, and RHP Michael Massey off to MLB. It's unclear if Dallas will be in play for one of those rotation spots.
