A key Tennessee Vols baseball player entered the NCAA transfer portal on Wednesday.

Shortstop Austen Jaslove, who will be a redshirt junior next season, is entering the NCAA transfer portal according to a report from 247Sports' Ben McKee.

Jaslove hit .189 while starting 12 games this past season. He spent most of the 2023 season playing behind starting shortstop Maui Ahuna (Ahuna was selected by the San Francisco Giants in the fourth round of the 2023 MLB Draft). Jaslove started the first eight games of the season while Ahuna was suspended.

It's a bit of a surprise to see Jaslove hit the portal as he was expected to see more playing time in 2024 with Ahuna heading to San Francisco.

Jaslove, however, might be looking for a situation where his playing time will be guaranteed, which wasn't going to be the case at Tennessee.

For now, Jake Kendro, who will be a sophomore next season, looks like the best option to start at shortstop for the Vols.
