Former Tennessee Vols standout Dalton Knecht returned to the court this past Wednesday night after a wild week that saw him get traded from the Los Angeles Lakers to the Charlotte Hornets before ending up back in SoCal after the trade was rescinded

Knecht scored 10 points for the Lakers on Wednesday night against the Utah Jazz.

After the game, the former Vol told reporters that the entire trade saga felt like a "movie", though he took it all in stride, noting that he just wants to "go play basketball".

Knecht also revealed the message the Lakers sent to him upon his return to Los Angeles.

Before the Lakers' failed trade involving Knecht, the franchise acquired forward Luka Doncic in a blockbuster deal with the Dallas Mavericks.

The Lakers told Knecht that when he's on the floor with Doncic, he needs to be ready to shoot at all times.

"The passes that he was making out there, it’s crazy," said Knecht. "They told me the first thing back is no matter what, when he has the ball, be ready to shoot. He’s going to get it to you, no matter what. And seeing a couple of passes to AR (Austin Reaves) and Bron (LeBron), he wasn’t even looking. So it was crazy. I’m excited.”

Knecht is set to take part in the NBA rising stars game during All-Star weekend.

Now that the dust has settled on the NBA trade deadline, it should be fun to see what kind of opportunities Knecht receives in the Lakers' new-look lineup.
