The Tennessee Vols could be in danger of losing a 2026 three-star commit to one of their top rivals.
According to On3's Chad Simmons, Alabama and Florida are among the programs that are "pushing" for Vols three-star defensive line commit Tyson Bacon.
Bacon, 6-foot-3/248 lbs from Hoover, AL, is rated in 247Sports' composite rankings as the No. 52 defensive lineman in the nation and the No. 17 player in the state of Alabama.
“I will give every school that offers me a fair chance,” said Bacon to On3. “Tennessee is on top, but I plan to take visits, take my official visits and just give each school a shot."
Bacon visited Tennessee this past season for the Vols' win against Alabama. He received an offer from the Crimson Tide late last week.
It's not a surprise that Alabama, specifically, is making a run at Bacon considering that he's an in-state player. It sounds like the Vols are still in a good a spot for Bacon, but he's going to be open to other programs before he makes his final decision.
Bacon is being recruited to Tennessee by defensive line coach Rodney Garner. Ultimately, the presence of Garner, one of the best defensive line coaches in the sport, could be what allows Tennessee to hold on to Bacon.
