A Tennessee Vols defender has officially entered the NCAA transfer portal.

Vols cornerback Tyus Fields entered the portal this week, according to a report from 247Sports.

Fields is a former four-star recruit from Cornelius, NC. He signed with Tennessee during the 2019 recruiting cycle.

Fields never found his groove with the Vols. He played in four games and took a redshirt year in 2019 as a true freshman. The North Carolina native only played in one game in 2020 and two games in 2021.

This news doesn't come as a huge surprise, as Fields wasn't listed on the Vols' spring roster.

Fields leaving Tennessee isn't a massive loss for the Volunteers, though it's certainly not great for UT's depth.

The Vols are already extremely thin at cornerback, so they didn't need to lose any bodies to the portal.

Fields will have three years of eligibility (counting his extra COVID year from 2020) remaining.
