It appears as though former Tennessee Vols DL Tyler Baron has decided on where he's going to continue his college football playing career.  

The ex-UT defender announced on his Twitter account that he is heading south to play for the Miami Hurricanes.

Baron was the #10 overall edge rusher in the portal, per 247 Sports, and the top overall player at his position still available.  The 6'5", 255-pound defender was also pursued by Ole Miss, LSU, and USC.  

Baron played for Tennessee for four years, coming to Knoxville as part of the Vols' 2020 recruiting class.  He finished his time in Knoxville with 101 tackles, 27 tackles for loss, and 13.5 sacks.  He had a career high 10.5 tackles for loss and 6 sacks in 2023. 

Baron announced back on December 8 that he would be putting his name in the transfer portal.  After originally committing to head to Ole Miss, he backed off that pledge and ultimately ended up going to Louisville.  Now, he's tying his name to his third new program of the offseason. 

Baron joins a Hurricanes defensive front that has added a ton of talent this offseason through the portal to join Freshman Rueben Bain, who was the 2023 ACC rookie of the year.  Miami has also added MTSU DL Marley Cook, Marshall DE Elijah Alston, and Michigan State DL Simeon Barrow, Jr. in the portal since the end of last season.

We'll see if the former Volunteer can finish off his college career in strong fashion with the Hurricanes.
