The Tennessee Vols are poised to take advantage of North Carolina Tar Heels head coach Bill Belichick’s recent misfortune.

According to On3’s Chad Simmons, the Volunteers are a team to watch for a four-star recruit that recently decommitted from North Carolina.

Tennessee is in the mix for a four-star recruit that was previously committed to the Tar Heels

Simmons noted on Wednesday that Tennessee is “one to watch” for 2027 four-star cornerback Marquis Bryant.

Bryant, 5-foot-11/190 pounds from Rolesville, NC, is rated by 247Sports as the No. 9 player in the state of North Carolina. He committed to the Tar Heels in December before decommitting on April 1.

“He will take his time, but early on, a pair of SEC programs are already making moves, with Tennessee positioning itself as one to watch,” wrote Simmons of Bryant.

Kentucky is also in the mix for the North Carolina native.

Bryant told On3 that he was impressed by Tennessee’s new defensive staff during a recent visit to Rocky Top.

“Seeing the new defensive coaches work and coach their guys stood out,” said Bryant. “They were coaching them up, helping them learn the defense and working hard to help the players grow.”

Bryant, who has taken around a half dozen visits to Tennessee, doesn’t currently have a planned commitment date.
