When the Tennessee Vols opened the 2019 season with a loss to Georgia State, there were plenty of folks (including myself) that questioned whether or not UT head coach Jeremy Pruitt was a good motivator.
For whatever reason, the Vols appeared spiritless when they took the field against Georgia State on August 31. And when a team plays with no emotion, it falls on the head coach.
This week, however, Pruitt removed all doubt that he can be a great motivator. The second year head coach showed his intensity in a video that was tweeted by Tennessee football on Friday afternoon.
Oh man, I don't know how a player couldn't be fired up after that speech.
That's the type of emotion and intensity every football team needs — especially the Vols. That's the type of coach fans can get behind.
Pruitt is still learning how to be a head coach. Nick Saban didn't learn in one year. Neither did Bill Belichick or any other great head coach.
I still have no idea how the Pruitt era will turn out at Tennessee, but I'm fairly certain he has the right mentality to be successful on Rocky Top.
Pruitt is undoubtedly the leader the Vols need right now.
