Tennessee Vols head coach Josh Heupel is a man of his word.

Earlier this season, Heupel pointed out that he allows Tennessee's leadership council to help pick out the uniform combination each week.

"Uniform combinations that show up on gameday, our (player) leadership council, on Sundays they come in and have medical treatment, those guys are a part of picking out what we wear for the following game," said Heupel in October.

As a result of that promise, the Vols will be wearing black uniforms this weekend against the Georgia Bulldogs.

I'm sure this won't go over well with some fans. In fact, I'd prefer the Volunteers to wear their traditional orange and white. I loved the black jerseys against South Carolina. But I think it should be a once-a-year thing.

Heupel, however, is all about the player experience. And he promised to let the player leadership council take part in deciding which uniform to wear each weekend.

This is how you keep a team bought in. It's how you build a great culture.

Heupel loves Vol fans and Tennessee's great traditions, but it's ultimately all about the players on the field going to battle each week.
